Why choose a chemical peel?
Our skin naturally renews itself every 28 days. But this process can get off track – for example, due to acne, acne marks, pigmentation changes, or sun damage.
Dead skin cells build up, pores become clogged, and the complexion may appear uneven or dull.
A chemical peel can help remove these outer layers of skin cells and boost natural skin renewal.
This treatment is a good choice if you …
- have blemishes, acne, or enlarged pores
- find dark spots, acne scars, or redness and uneven skin bothersome
- want to support healing of mild acne scars
- wish to address changes caused by sun exposure or aging
- have skin that regular care products don’t fully reach
Place value on a doctor-supervised assessment and a professionally done treatment

What happens during a chemical peel?
At Derma Medical Clinic, we first assess whether a superficial peel is enough to improve your skin texture, or if a medium-depth peel is more suitable — for example, for pigmentation spots or sun-damaged skin.
Only then do we decide which type of peel to use.
What does the skin look like afterward?
This depends on how deep the peel goes. After a superficial peel, the skin may be slightly red and feel tight — similar to a light sunburn.
With medium-depth peels, some flaking or light crusting can occur. This usually disappears after a few days.
When will I see results?
After a superficial peel, the skin may already feel smoother and fresher within a few days.
Medium peels take a bit longer — results usually appear after 7 to 10 days, once the skin has fully healed.
The effect increases with each session. If desired, we recommend several treatments spaced a few weeks apart.
How does a chemical peel work?
Thorough cleansing and preparation of your skin
Application of the peeling solution – precisely dosed based on your skin
Neutralization and calming care after the peel
Aftercare advice – e.g., UV protection and skincare

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions About Chemical Peels
What is a chemical peel?
A chemical peel is a doctor-supervised skin treatment where special acids are used to remove the top layer of the skin. This promotes new skin growth, making the skin look smoother and more radiant.
What types of chemical peels are there?
Depending on your skin and goals, you may receive a superficial, medium-depth, or deeper peel – such as fruit acid peels or TCA (trichloroacetic acid) peels. The choice is made individually after a professional assessment.
What skin concerns is a chemical peel suitable for?
A chemical peel can help with:
- Oily or blemished skin with large pores
- Dark spots or sun damage
- fine lines or dull-looking skin
- acne marks or superficial acne scars
What does a skin therapist do, and how do they differ from a cosmetician?
A skin therapist (medical aesthetician) specializes in professional skincare and treatments for issues like acne, rosacea, or pigmentation. Unlike a traditional cosmetician, they work closely with dermatologists and apply medically guided treatments and products. At Derma Medical Clinic, every treatment is performed by a qualified skin therapist, tailored to your skin type and needs.
How does a chemical peel work?
After cleansing, the appropriate peel is applied and left on for a short time before being neutralized. Then, soothing skincare is applied. The treatment lasts approx. 30–45 minutes.
What does the skin look like after a chemical peel?
Depending on the type of peel, your skin may be red, tight, or slightly flaky for a few days. These are normal signs of skin renewal and typically go away quickly.
When will I see results?
With superficial peels, results may be noticeable within a few days — the skin looks fresher and more even. Deeper peels need more healing time but often give longer-lasting effects.
Is a chemical peel painful?
The treatment is usually well tolerated. You may feel some tingling or mild burning during the peel. With deeper peels, this feeling may be stronger.
What should I do after the treatment?
Your skin is more sensitive to sunlight after a peel. So, consistent sun protection is essential. For a few days, avoid peeling products, irritating creams, and heavy makeup.
How often should a chemical peel be done?
For best results, multiple sessions are recommended — every 2 to 4 weeks depending on the peel type. The exact plan depends on your skin and goals.
Are there risks or side effects?
Short-term effects like redness, dryness, or flaking are possible. When done correctly by experienced medical staff, the treatment is generally very well tolerated.
