Treating Fibromas in Zurich
Fibromas are benign skin tags that frequently appear on the neck, under the armpits, in the groin area, or under the breasts. Medically, these are harmless, but they can be bothersome due to friction, clothing, jewelry, during shaving, or for aesthetic reasons. At the Derma Medical Clinic, we professionally assess skin changes and remove fibromas on an outpatient basis.

What fibromas are and when they are bothersome
Fibromas consist of connective tissue and are among the common benign skin changes. They can be skin-colored or slightly brownish, appear soft, and be stalked or flat. Many fibromas remain inconspicuous. They become bothersome primarily where they rub against clothing, jewelry, or skin folds. They can then become inflamed, bleed, or be injured during shaving. Removal is particularly advisable if fibromas cause discomfort, are cosmetically bothersome, or if it is unclear whether it is truly a fibroma.

When a specialist assessment is required
Not every small skin change is a fibroma. Moles, warts, or other skin changes can look similar. Every skin change should be dermatologically examined before removal.
With visual diagnosis and dermoscopy, many changes can be safely classified within a few minutes. For unclear findings, we discuss further diagnostic steps. In some cases, observation is sufficient, while in others, removal is advisable.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions about Fibroma Treatment
Can fibromas become malignant?
Fibromas are benign skin changes and medically harmless. According to current knowledge, NO degeneration is to be expected. Nevertheless, every skin change should first be clarified by a specialist. Depending on their location (breast or armpits), fibromas tend to become inflamed. In these cases and for aesthetic reasons, they should be treated or removed.
Can fibromas regress on their own?
Fibromas cannot regress on their own. We recommend that you have every skin change examined by a specialist. In most cases, fibromas can be permanently removed easily and quickly as part of an outpatient treatment. Important: If the skin tags are not bothersome, they do not need to be removed. The prerequisite: a reliable medical diagnosis.
Will scars remain after removal?
In most cases, the area heals inconspicuously. If the treated area is larger, a small scar may remain visible. Since we work in a tissue-sparing manner, we can significantly reduce this risk during treatment.
Can fibromas grow back?
If a fibroma has been completely removed, it usually does not grow back. However, it cannot be ruled out that new fibromas will form on other areas of the skin over time if there is an individual tendency.
How long does healing take after treatment?
The skin usually heals within a few days. Slight redness or scabs in the treated area are normal. At the Derma Medical Clinic in Zurich, we will give you specific and individual care instructions.
