Reduce dark circles and refresh the eye area
Dark circles can have many different causes. Not uncommonly, the dark shadows are due to volume loss in the tear trough area. Other reasons include thin skin, pigment shifts, swelling, or changes at the transition between the lower eyelid and the cheek. Treatment depends on the cause. In many cases, hyaluronic acid is the treatment of choice. For thin skin or declining skin quality, polynucleotides, PRP, or laser treatments may also be used.

When the eye area looks tired
Our attention is drawn particularly strongly to the eyes. Small changes are noticeable and can influence the entire facial expression. Dark circles are the result of shadowing under the eye. The face looks more tired, even when you feel fit and well rested. Many patients want a fresher-looking eye area and a gentle treatment, ideally with no downtime.

Dark circles due to visible vessels, under-eye bags and malar bags
The skin under the eyes is thin, and the natural fat pads decrease over time. This can create a hollow between the lower eyelid and the cheek, making the eye area appear darker. Pigmentation, visible vessels, under-eye bags or malar bags can also play a role. Depending on the cause, the treatment differs.
Treatment with hyaluronic acid
When does it make sense to treat dark circles?
Hyaluronic acid is an option when dark circles are mainly caused by a pronounced tear trough or volume loss under the eye. Special products are used here—this area is particularly sensitive and closely connected to the functional tissues of the eye.
Which treatment approach?
With a pronounced tear trough, hyaluronic acid can be carefully placed into the hollow. This evens out the transition between the lower eyelid and the cheek and reduces shadowing. If skin quality is declining, biostimulators or laser treatments can also be used as an adjunct.
What happens during the treatment?
After the analysis, we determine whether an injectable treatment is suitable. Hyaluronic acid is placed into the intended area using fine cannulas or needles. The treatment takes only a few minutes. The result develops over the following days as the treated area settles.
Why have dark circles treated by us?
Natural result
The eye area should look fresher without the treatment being noticeable. The goal is a harmonious transition between the lower eyelid and the cheek.
Experienced Doctors
Filling the tear trough is a particularly demanding procedure. It requires experience, anatomical understanding and a restrained approach.
Modern Treatment Concepts
We take your individual skin structure and any accompanying findings in the eye region into account before recommending treatment.
Individual Consultation
We discuss openly which treatment—and, if applicable, which alternatives—fit your situation.

Procedure
Initial consultation & assessment
In the initial consultation, we discuss your wishes, analyse the eye area and carefully assess the cause of your dark circles. We clarify which treatment options suit your appearance and your desired result.
Treatment plan
Together, we determine which method will deliver the best result based on this analysis. We clarify whether filler, polynucleotides, PRP or a laser treatment—or a combination of these—is the right solution for your dark circles.
Treatment
Treatment is minimally invasive using fine needles or cannulas and is adapted to the anatomical conditions.
Care & aftercare
After the treatment, our team will give you individual advice on skincare for the eye area, aftercare, and possible reactions in the first days following treatment.

"The eye area in particular requires experience and restraint. Small changes can have a particularly big impact."
At our clinic, aesthetic treatment is carried out by an experienced specialist in dermatology:
Dr. med. univ. Martina Tröbinger is a specialist in Dermatology and Venereology (FMH), Laser Medicine (FMCH) and holds the FMCH laser proficiency certificate. She treats the eye region with particular attention to proportions, skin thickness and natural transitions. Before every treatment, we assess what is causing the dark circles and which method is the most sensible solution.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions about treating dark circles
Can dark circles be treated with hyaluronic acid?
If dark circles are caused by a pronounced tear trough or volume loss, a special hyaluronic acid can be an option.
Are under-eye bags and dark circles the same thing?
Under-eye bags are the direct result of excess tissue or protruding fat. Dark circles are caused by thin skin with visible vessels, pigmentation or volume loss.
What are malar bags?
Malar bags are swellings at the transition between the lower eyelid and the cheek. They differ from classic dark circles and require different treatment approaches.
How long does hyaluronic acid last under the eyes?
Depending on the product, metabolism and tissue, the effect can last many months to over a year.
When will you see the result?
After the treated area has settled, the result becomes visible over the following days.
Can dark discolouration be completely removed?
Pigmented dark circles often respond only to a limited extent to hyaluronic acid. Here, depending on your individual skin structure, we use other methods or combinations. Depending on severity, the shadows cannot always be fully reduced, but in most cases they can be significantly improved.
Is the treatment painful?
The treatment is generally well tolerated. Very fine needles and a special technique are used.
Will I be presentable after treatment?
Mild swelling or small bruises may occur temporarily, but you are usually socially presentable again immediately.
